Carol Oxford joins us from the University
of California, Davis where she is currentlythe Technical Manager of the Optical Biology Core
Facility. The
University was originally an agricultural campus, and these roots are still
reflected in the current research. Investigators using the core facility come
from a wide variety of disciplines. The UCD Veterinary School, The California
Regional Primate Research Center, The Center for Comparative Medicine, and an
NCI designated Cancer Center provide a widerange of challenges. The core
comprises a 10-color MoFlo cell sorter, a FACScan, an XL, and a Laser Scanning
Cytometer. A new multi-parameter analysisinstrument will be added late this
summer. Carol has over 20 years experience in flow cytometry. As the usage of the
lab continues to expand, she is developing a flow cytometry education course to
streamline investigator training. Most of her current research involves the
development of multi-color panels for immune function evaluation in SIV and HIV
infection. Carol has also joined FloCyte Associates recently as an instructor in
the Regional Flow Cytometry Training Program. Carol can be reached at cloxford@ucdavic.edu .
By the way, she has a wonderful voice, and is
an EXCELLENT Wedding singer!! |
