```FloCyte Associates is the creation of Susan DeMaggio, Founder, CEO, and
President of FloCyte Associates, Inc. Susan is an experienced flow cytometer operator
and core manager, having begun her flow
career at the Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical
Center in 1987, where she set up the Immunopathology Department flow cytometry
facility. Ms. DeMaggio's position at LAC/USC Medical Center required her to
establish panels, policy, and procedures for doing T & B cell panels for testing
mostly immunodeficiency patients. She is a licensed Medical Technologist with
30 years experience, is an associate member of the American Society of Clinical
Pathology and has earned a qualification in cytometry from ASCP in 1994. She
has been a member of the International Society of Analytical Cytology since
1988.
She earned a Master of Science degree with an emphasis in Immunology from
California State Polytechnic University in Pomona in 1990 with the development
and characterization of monoclonal antibodies to a pre-B cell lymphoma line
transformed by a murine leukemia virus.
Her recent position as Resource Manager of the Optical Biology Core Facility at
the University of California, Irvine, a shared resource of the Clinical Cancer
Center, one of the National Cancer Institute's designated cancer centers in
Southern California, afforded her the opportunity to expand her Flow Cytometry
knowledge. In her position there she operated, maintained and trained users on
the FACScan, as well as operated and managed a MoFlo sorter facility, and a
confocal microscope facility, with labs in the Developmental Biology Center, an
organized research unit of the School of Biology, and the Department of
Physiology and Biophysics in the California College of Medicine. A portion of
Ms DeMaggio’s support was supplied by the Cancer Center Support Grant
(CA-66203). She retired from UCI in December 2001 to direct her interests
to her business.
FloCyte Associates, INC. is a training and
recruitment agency, specializing in Flow Cytometry training. The FloCyte
Regional Training Program has held
successful training programs in BASIC and Advanced topics in flow Cytometry around the country, and in
Europe and Mexico, reaching over 2000 students, in small groups, since Jan.
2003.
Ms.
DeMaggio is the mother of three grown children, Elizabeth, married to
son-in-law David Mollendor, Laura, and Mark, and
the grandmother of Trey, Emma, Malik, Carlee,
Dawson, Walker and Tucker. She resides in Irvine, California with her husband, Emmett
Lee. Family |
